“What Should I Write About?”

This is a question that every journaler/diarist asks themselves at least once. It’s also a question that people interested in beginning a journal may ask before the attempt. What do you write about?

There is no definitive answer to this question. Anything goes as a topic. I find it helpful to use a prompt when I’m stuck for something to write about. My go-to prompt is “What’s on my mind?” I’ll write this prompt down and then the entry that follows it is my answer.  Prompts are a useful tool to kickstart your journal entries. Here are five prompts that I like to use:

  • What’s on my mind?
  • I remember when…
  • Just because…
  • Answer any question posted on r/AskReddit
  • I wish I had…

Stuck for an idea of what to write about? Try one of those prompts.
